The second event will take place at the Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace (IRDP) and will focus on how Rwanda’s historical experiences managing refugee crises have shaped the country’s policy and practice today. The discussion will centre on how the country has both encouraged Rwandans living abroad to return and welcomed refugees from neighbouring countries. Also discussed will be the lessons Rwanda can share with refugees living in the country through education and remembrance initiatives.

IRDP

IRDP was initiated in 2001 as a peace building Institute to contribute to peacebuilding efforts in the aftermath of the Tutsi Genocide of 1994. IRDP’s overarching vision is to contribute to lasting peace in Rwanda and in the region.
